Day-wise Schedule [ Top ]

The duration of 04 days of this whitewater kayak course are organized as follows:

Day 1: Arrive early morning at Haridwar by overnight train. Transfer to our Kayak school at Shivpuri on Ganges. Breakfast and a brief introduction to the kayaking equipment, before we hit the water. Our kayak training would start with basic paddling strokes, turning strokes to get the basic control and balance of the boat. Long boating session with working lunch. Towards the end of the river time we give the experience of wet exit, and Eskimo rescue to the participants.

Day 2: Early morning wakeup, warm up and stretching exercises. After breakfast we proceed for an initiation river run (class I difficulty). Today’s objective is to build confidence in the paddlers as well as to give them the taste of river running. Key attention is given to river ferry skills and general improvement on paddling strokes. Wrap up after lunch.

Day 3: Today participants would experience river running of about 10 kms, spanning over up to class II kind of rapids. The instructors and safety kayakers would guide and help the paddlers negotiate big volume class II rapids on Ganga river in safety. Practice of Eskimo rescue would be given a lot of importance apart from river reading.

Day 4: The last day of the course is the summation of all the skills that have been imparted. Participants do a longer and more serious river run on the Ganges, which includes one class III rapid. After the trip we have a short get-together, and then the participants depart for Haridwar to board the evening Shatabdi express.
