Rolling a kayak is a technique which enables a paddler to upright the kayak in the event of a flip/capsize. This is an essential skill to run whitewater rapids safely and successfully.

Eskimo rolling technique is one of the preferred rolling technique to rely upon as it is safe and has successive sequence of steps that are intuitive and quick to execute under stressful conditions.

Our eskimo roll session is a day long activity to learn the theory and practice the skill in calm safe waters. Whether you are absolutely new to rolling a kayak or someone who wishes to practice and improve your roll, an eskimo roll session is sure to help you.

Day 01: After a brief introduction and warm up exercises, the technique is introduced in principle and practice. We start with T-rescue technique in which a paddler can upright the boat using the bow of a second boat as a support. Gradually we work up to the eskimo roll with demonstrations, assisted/supported exercises and then independent rolls.

Often a paddler would require more than one eskimo roll sessions to practice and improve upon the skill. How soon one gets proficient in this skill is largely dependent upon their comfort in water and physical flexibility as well as capability to sustain underwater duration.
