Mountaineering Expedition for first timers. This is a beginners peak climbing expedition. We would provide all guidance and logistics, mountain guides, mountaineering equipment such as dome tents, ice axe, crampoms, ascenders etc.

Take your first steps into Mountaineering. This expedition is designed for ambitious enthusiasts who wish to go beyond trekking into the world of mountain climbing. The climb would involve alpine and snow sections, and would gain maximum altitude of 5300 Mtrs at the Shetidhar summit.

This climbing expedition is operated like a guided trip, assuming participants with no experience in climbing. All participants are given basic instructions and skill training on the use of technical equipment used for alpine/snow climbing such as crampons, ice axe, ascenders, climbing ropes etc. as they would proceed in the expedition.

Full logistics support would be provided during the trek/climb for transfer of camping gear and mess facilities. Participants would be required to trek/climb with their backpacks.

Day-wise Schedule [ Top ]

The duration of 10 days of this course are organized as follows:

Day 0: Departure from Delhi by overnight AC bus for Manali (Himachal Pradesh). Departs in evening.

Day 1: Arrival at Manali in morning. Meet our coordinator at bus stand, transfer to Dhundhi, the starting point of our expedition. Allocate tents. Orientation program after the participants have freshened up. Overnight at camp.

Day 2: Trek to Bakarthach. The trek would be through light forests and glacier crossings. Setup camp on an elevated plateau overlooking Bakarthach. Overnight at Camp.

Day 3: Trek from Bakarthach to Base camp. We would follow the route along the Ladys leg ridge, and would cross into the Beaskund valley from a precarious rocky goat pass. After this crossing, a steep glacier is negotiated to setup the base camp above the beaskund basin. Overnight at Camp.

Day 4: Load ferry from Base camp to Advanced Camp. Overnight at the height gain camp. Enjoy the high altitude experience from this camp. Great view of snow clad peaks all around.

Day 5: Rest day at Advanced Camp to acclimatize better for the summit attempt. Advanced party would setup ropes at steep sections of the climb.

Day 6: Summit attempt would start very early in the morning around 3 AM. After the climb, return to advanced camp. Overnight at camp.

Day 7: Return trek to Base Camp. Overnight at camp.

Day 8: Descend from the Base Camp to the beaskund basin. A short halt near the holy lake of beaskund before we setup camp in the basin. Overnight at camp.

Day 9: Return trek to Dhundhi across the Bakarthach ridge. Overnight at camp.

Day 10: Morning departure from Dhundhi camp, drive to Manali town. Day at leisure in the town. Board evening bus to Delhi.

What is included in our services?
Transfers from Manali to Dhundhi and Dhundhi to Manali, All technical climbing gear as per needed, camping gear, kitchen and mess facilities on the expedition, all rations, logistics for the expedition, porters, guidance, permissions, first aid, instructions and safety standby support.

What is NOT included in our services?
Delhi-Manali-Delhi Bus fares, expenses of personal nature, insurance of any kind, alcoholic drinks, anything not mentioned explicitly in the above program.

What has to be brought by the participant?
Personal torch, appropriate footwear, fleece body warmers, windproof jacket and lower, warm headgear, UV protection sunglasses, gloves, warm socks, suitable backpack, camera etc.

General Notifications:
- Minimum age for participation is 15 years.
- Participants would need to follow a personal physical training schedule prior to departure
- This is not a luxury trip; days would be tiring and intensive.
- People with past history/ailment of heart, asthma, epilepsy are recommended to take medical advice
- Weather disruptions may at times result in discomfort or unplanned adjustments.

Mountaineering is considered an extreme sport and has potential risks. Participants are expected to understand the hazards and would be required to sign an undertaking/disclaimer prior to participating in the expedition.

Travel advisory
- Departure from Delhi should be done by overnight bus on day 0
- Arrival back to Delhi is expected in morning of Day 11 ( around 9 AM )
- Bus bookings can be organized by us as per actual bus fares
- Hotel stay supplement at Manali can be offered before/after the expedition as per hotel tariff

Policy for Booking, Cancellation and Refunds:
- Full payment is required to confirm a booking.
- 75 % refund if cancellation happens 30 days prior to departure
- 50 % refund if cancellation happens 15 days prior to departure
- No refund for any cancellation/no show in the last 15 days prior to departure
