Trekking excursion to Beas kund lake ( Himachal Pradesh )

A beautiful trek with experiences of glaciers, boulders, meadows, river crossings and great views of snow clad mountains. Beas kund is a small glacial lake set in a large basin with high snow clad mountains all around it making it a huge amphitheatre of nature.

The lake is considered as one of the main sources of Beas river. It is also said that Vyas rishi had performed meditation in this place, thus it is considered as a holy lake according to Hindu mythology.

The trek is based from Manali in Himachal Pradesh. Manali is a beautiful hill station, well connected and having good infrastructure as well as a great shopping experience. The road head from where the trek starts is a place called Dhundhi near Solang. Route is planned as circular, so that the experience is unique for the entire trek.

Participants are expected to walk with only a small backpack, whereas all the camping gear, rations and the luggage of guests is transferred by our team of porters.

This trek can be considered for a family group adventure or a group tour for enthusiasts who are seeking a trekking/camping experience in a short span of time.

Day-wise Schedule [ Top ]

The duration of 06 days of this trek are organized as follows:

Day 0: ( Delhi-Manali 16 Hours by bus ) Departure from Delhi by overnight Bus.

Day 01: ( Manali-Dhundhi 2 hours ) Morning arrival at Manali ( 2000m ), meet trip coordinator at the bus stand, transfer by road to Dhundhi. Tents are allocated to participants. A short orientation program after guests have refreshed. Rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight at Camp.

Day 02: ( Dhundhi – Bakarthach Trek 4 Hours ) Today we would trek to Bakarthach ( 3300m ) constantly following the left bank of the river. The trail would pass through small forest and moraines. Early in the season there may be glaciers over small streams on the way. We camp in a small meadow on the top of a plateau overlooking Bakarthach. overnight camp.

Day 03: ( Bakarthach to Beaskund Valley Trek 4-5 Hours ) Today we would trek along the “Lady Leg ridge”, and would cross this ridge over a less used rocky goat pass to enter the beaskund valley. A short glacier crossing and then a climb would take us to a beautiful meadow which overlooks the Hanuman Tibba mountain. Overnight camp.

Day 04: ( Beaskund Basin Trek 4 Hours ) We descend from our elevated camp site to reach the Beas kund lake (3690m). After spending some time near the lake, we would proceed further to camp at some grassy patch. The entire beas kund basin is like a huge amphitheatre with snow clad mountains around it. Overnight camp.

Day 05: ( Beaskund to Dhundhi Trek 5 Hours ) On the last day of our trek we would need to cross 2-3 glacial streams which meander across the beaskund basin. A steep climb across the boulder stridden bakarthach ridge would bring us to the meadow trail to Dhundhi. Overnight at Camp.

Day 06: ( Dhundhi-Manali-Delhi ) Morning departure from Camp, transfer to Manali. Day at leisure, board evening bus for Delhi.

What is included in our services?
Transfers from Manali to Dhundhi and Dhundhi to Manali, camping gear, kitchen and mess facilities on the trek, all rations, logistics for the trek, porters, guidance, permissions and safety standby support.

What is NOT included in our services?
Delhi-Manali-Delhi bus fare, Expenses of personal nature, insurance of any kind, alcoholic drinks, anything not mentioned explicitly in the above program.

What has to be brought by the participant?
Personal torch, appropriate comfortable and rugged footwear for the trek, fleece body warmers, windproof jacket and lower, warm headgear, UV protection sunglasses, gloves, warm socks, suitable backpack, camera etc.

General Notifications:
- Minimum age for participation is 12 years.
- This is not a luxury trip; days would be tiring.
- Weather disruptions may at times result in discomfort or unplanned adjustments.

Travel advisory
- Hotel stay supplements at Manali before and/or after the trek, can be organized as per actuals
- Bus bookings can be organized as per actual bus fare for Delhi-Manali-Delhi

Policy for Booking, Cancellation and Refunds:
- Full payment is required to confirm a booking.
- 75 % refund if cancellation happens 30 days prior to departure
- 50 % refund if cancellation happens 15 days prior to departure
- No refund for any cancellation/no show in the last 15 days prior to departure
