Take your first steps into Mountaineering. This expedition is designed for ambitious enthusiasts who wish to go beyond trekking into the world of mountain climbing. The climb would involve alpine and snow sections, and would gain maximum altitude of 5300 Mtrs at the Shetidhar summit.

This climbing expedition is operated like a guided trip, assuming participants with no experience in climbing. Participants are also given basic instructions and skill training on the use of technical equipment used for alpine/snow climbing such as crampons, ice axe, ascenders, climbing ropes etc. as they would proceed in the expedition.

Full logistics support would be provided during the trek/climb for transfer of camping gear and mess facilities. Participants would be required to trek/climb with their backpacks.

Day 0: Departure from Delhi by overnight AC bus for Manali (Himachal Pradesh). Departs in evening.

Day 1: Arrival at Manali in morning. Meet our coordinator at bus stand, transfer to hotel. Relax, last minute shopping etc. Evening get together for the orientation program and briefing about the expedition.

Day 2: Short drive to Solang, from where the approach march commences. Trek today till Dhundhi. Overnight tents at Dhundhi.

Day 3: Trek from Dhundhi to Bakarthach. The trek would be through light forests and glacier crossings. Overnight tents at Bakarthach.

Day 4: Trek from Bakarthach to Beaskund basin. Today we cross over the Bakarthach ridge with towering Hanuman Tibba peak at one end of the ridge. Late afternoon the newbies are given a fast track training on use of ice axe and other technical climbing gear. Overnight tents.

Day 5: The expedition team moves to higher ground above Beaskund, to setup the base camp. Advanced party would further do the load ferry to Camp 1. Overnight tents.

Day 6: Climb to camp 1. Establish camp on snow ledge. Experience high altitude camping today. Beautiful views of snow peaks all around. Overnight tents.

Day 7: Rest day at camp 1 for better acclimatization. Advanced party would establish the fixed ropes. Sleep very early to wake up for an early morning summit attempt. Overnight tents.

Day 8: Summit attempt starts as early as 3 AM. Use fixed ropes to ascend to the col. Take a quick breakfast on the col, and then continue with the summit climb. After the climb glissade down to Camp 1. Overnight tents.

Day 9: Descend from Camp 1 to base camp. Celebration time. Overnight tents.

Day 10: Trek from base camp to Bakarthach across a precarious rocky pass on the lady leg ridge. Setup camp overlooking the Bakarthach camp site. Overnight tents.

Day 11: Trek from Bakarthach to Dhundhi. Overnight tents.

Day 12: Trek from Dhundhi to Solang, and further take road transfer to hotel in Manali. Overnight at hotel.

Day 13: Rest day at Manali hotel. Relax or explore the markets of Manali. Overnight at hotel.

Day 14: Check out of hotel by midday for the evening departure from Manali.

PACKING LIST
Personal torch, appropriate footwear, fleece body warmers, windproof jacket and lower, warm headgear, UV protection sunglasses, gloves, warm socks, suitable backpack, camera etc.

GENERAL NOTIFICATION
- Minimum age for participation is 15 years.
- Participants would need to follow a personal physical training schedule prior to departure
- This is not a luxury trip; days would be tiring and intensive.
- People with past history/ailment of heart, asthma, epilepsy are recommended to take medical advice
- Weather disruptions may at times result in discomfort or unplanned adjustments.

Mountaineering is considered an extreme sport and has potential risks. Participants are expected to understand the hazards and would be required to sign an undertaking/disclaimer prior to participating in the expedition.

JOURNEY
- Departure from Delhi should be done by overnight bus on day 0
- Arrival back to Delhi is expected in morning of Day 15 ( around 9 AM )
- Bus bookings can be organized by us as per actual bus fares
