A whitewater kayaking trip for first timer boaters. In a short schedule, we would impart the necessary technical skills to the enthusiasts, and they would experience whitewater kayaking river runs up to class II rapids.

The program would enable you to get started into the challenging world of whitewater kayaking, and would also give an enchanting experience of running a small expedition with our team with river side camping in wilderness.
The trip is designed to introduce novice enthusiasts to whitewater kayaking, with lot of river runs and an eskimo rolling session. Main focus of the program will be for river running, and practice sessions would be long and intense. At end of day there would be a debriefing session to discuss the day’s experiences.

Day 0: Board overnight train from Delhi to Haridwar.

Day 1: Arrive early morning at Haridwar. Transfer to our Kayak school at Shivpuri on Ganges. Breakfast and a brief introduction to the kayaking equipment. Basic paddling strokes are taught, and remaining day is on the river for practice and improving boat control. Evening is spent around a bonfire on the terrace of our kayak school, a short debrief session. Overnight at our kayak school.

Day 2: Early morning wakeup, warm up and stretching exercises. We depart for a short river run of about 6 kms. The rapids would be easy class I kinds. This would introduce the participants to river reading, river signals and various rescue techniques. Towards the end, we would focus on Eskimo rescue and Eskimo roll techniques. Packup and drive back to our kayak school. Overnight at our kayak school.

Day 3:We depart for a slightly longer river run, which would introduce the participants to class II rapids. Towards the end of this day, we further enhance the practice of eskimo rescue. Overnight at our kayak school.

Day 4: Early morning we pack our kayaks on our transport vehicle, and drive for about 2 hours to reach Deoprayag. This is the confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers. During our paddling session today, rapids encountered would be largely in the range of class I and II. We would run about 14 kms of the river, to camp besides the river at a beautiful beach called Beasghat. Afternoon would be spent in various camp setup activities, collecting firewood etc. Evening bonfire, overnight in tents.

Day 5: Today the participants would get a dedicated eskimo rolling session at the confluence of Nayar and Ganges where the water is less cold. Overnight at camp.

Day 6: Wind up the camp, and continue with the expedition. River rapids would be in class II to class II+ kind of difficulty. Finish the trip about 14 kms downriver at Kaudiyala. Drive back to our kayak school, and here we bid farewell to our kayak trainees. Drive to Haridwar to board train for onwards journey.

PRICE INCLUDES
Accommodation at our kayak school and at the river side in expedition style dome tents, sleeping bags and other camping equipment, all meals from breakfast of day 01 till the lunch of day 06, use of kayaking equipment ( kayak, spray deck, wet suit, paddle, helmet, PFD ), instructor, river guides, local transportation, railway station transfers ( as per trains recommended by us. If participants wish to travel by different means/timings, the transfers would need to be paid for as per actual ), all necessary rescue and first aid equipment.

PRICE EXCLUDES
Train fares to/fro Haridwar, expenses of personal nature, insurance of any kind, alcoholic drinks, anything not mentioned explicitly in the above program.

PACKING LIST
Personal torch, quick drying clothes/swimming costumes for kayaking, waterproof floater kind of sandals with securable back strap, retainer cord for sun glasses/prescription glasses, cameras, sun protection/block cream, moisturizer, towel, toilet kit etc. Warm clothing would be needed from mid Oct till mid March.

General Notifications:
- Minimum age for participation is 15 years for our kayak training programs.
- Accommodation is in expedition style in river side dome tents.
- No room service or any kind of special considerations/customizations is possible/provided.
- This is not a luxury trip; days would be tiring and intensive.
- People with past history/ailment of heart, asthma, epilepsy are not recommended this course.
- Weather disruptions may at times result in discomfort or unplanned adjustments.

White Water Kayaking is considered an extreme sport and has potential risks. Participants to our kayaking training courses are expected to understand the hazards and would be required to sign an undertaking/disclaimer prior to participating in the course.

JOURNEY
Our Kayak school is located at Shivpuri, which is about 15 kms from Rishikesh and 40 kms from Haridwar
- Participants need to reach Shivpuri not later than 7 AM on day 01 ( Alternatively reach on day 00, and stay at Haridwar/Rishikesh )
- Participants from Delhi are recommended to travel by the following trains:

+ Haridwar to Delhi: 2018 Shatabdi Express, 4042 Mussoorie Express, 2206 Dehradun AC Special
