This is a whitewater kayaking trip for first timer boaters. Participants would learn the basics of whitewater kayaking, and then would proceed for guided river runs.

The program would enable a novice to get started into the challenging world of whitewater kayaking, get eskimo roll sessions and a comprehensive experience of river running up to class III rapids.

The trip is designed keeping in mind the novice enthusiasts who wants to get initiated to whitewater kayaking, and would like to take his/her kayaking skills to an intermediate level. The practice sessions would be long and intense and at end of each day there would be a debriefing session to discuss the day’s experiences.

Day 0: Board overnight train from Delhi to Haridwar.

Day 1: Arrive early morning at Haridwar. Transfer to our Kayak school at Shivpuri on Ganges. Breakfast and a brief introduction to the kayaking equipment, After outfitting the participants with required kayaking equipment, we proceed for the initiation session. Participants are given the instructions for basic paddling strokes, and controlling the boat. Wet exits and eskimo rescue is also given importance. Evening is spent around a bonfire at the terrace of our kayak school. Overnight at our kayak school.

Day 2: Early morning wakeup, warm up and stretching exercises. After breakfast we proceed for a short river run. Advanced paddling strokes, and river ferry skills are taught. Eskimo rescue, river signals and other rescue related discussions are given emphasis. In the evening debriefing session we discuss the basics of river reading and the schedule for the next day. Overnight at our kayak school.

Day 3: We depart for a slightly longer river run, which would introduce the participants to class II rapids. Towards the end of this day, we further enhance the practice of eskimo rescue. Overnight at our kayak school.

Day 4: A 2 hour drive to Deoprayag. This is the confluence of Alaknanda river and Bhagirathi rivers, and hence forth this is called Ganga. The kayak river run would be of about 14 kms of easy class I and II rapids. We reach Beasghat, Tents are setup, post afternoon is chill out time on the beach. Evening bonfire, overnight tents.

Day 5: Participants are given a dedicated session on eskimo roll at the confluence of Nayar river and Ganga, where the water is less cold.

Day 6: We wind up the camp, today we run another 12 kms of class II kind of section to wind up near Kaudiyala.

Day 7: Proceed for an exciting day on the river. The rapids would be now bigger and pacy. We would close the day at Shivpuri, after running the class III rapid called the Three Blind Mice , which is group of three small rapids. Later proceed to Haridwar for onwards journey.

PRICE INCLUDES
Accommodation in expedition style dome tents, sleeping bags and all necessary camping gear, all meals from breakfast of day 01 till the lunch of day 07, use of kayaking equipment ( kayak, spray deck, wet suit, paddle, helmet, PFD ), instructor, river guides, local transportation, railway station transfers ( as per trains recommended by us. If participants wish to travel by different means/timings, the transfers would need to be paid for as per actual ), all necessary rescue and first aid equipment.

PRICE EXCLUDES
Train fares to/fro Haridwar, expenses of personal nature, insurance of any kind, alcoholic drinks, anything not mentioned explicitly in the above program.

PACKGING LIST
Personal torch, quick drying clothes/swimming costumes for kayaking, waterproof floater kind of sandals with securable back strap, retainer cord for sun glasses/prescription glasses, cameras, sun protection/block cream, moisturizer, towel, toilet kit etc. Warm clothing would be needed from mid oct till mid march.

GENERAL NOTIFICATION
- Minimum age for participation is 18 years for this kayaking trip.
- Accommodation is at our kayak school and on the river side in expedition style dome tents.
- No room service or any kind of special considerations/customizations is possible/provided.
- This is not a luxury trip; days would be tiring and intensive.
- People with past history/ailment of heart, asthma, epilepsy are not recommended this course.
- Weather disruptions may at times result in discomfort or unplanned adjustments.

White Water Kayaking is considered an extreme sport and has potential risks. Participants to our kayaking training courses are expected to understand the hazards and would be required to sign an undertaking/disclaimer prior to participating in the course.

Travel advisory
This trip is conducted on the Ganges.
Our kayak school is located about 15 kms from Rishikesh, and 40 kms from Haridwar.
- Participants need to reach Shivpuri not later than 7 AM on day 01 ( Alternatively reach on day 00, and stay at Haridwar/Rishikesh )
- Participants from Delhi are recommended to travel by the following trains:

+ Haridwar to Delhi: 4042 Mussoorie Express, 2018 Shatabdi Express, 2206 Dehradun AC Special
