The Pangarchulla trek is one of the most picturesque treks that should be on any trekker’s list. The trek lies in the Nanda Devi outer periphery and shares the famous Curzon trail. This trek would give a realistic mountaineering experience to a trekker. The peak is a clearly defined summit at an altitude of around 15000 feet.

The trek takes one from the awesome views of Nanda Devi, and across the beautiful meadows of Auli, Gorson and Khulara. The trek can be recommended to first time trekkers also who are willing to take the challenges of an easy climbing expedition. We operate this trek in early spring season when snow melt is about to set in, and a large part of the climb is still under snow.

ITINERARY

Day 01 : Rishikesh to Auli drive

A drive of around 8-9 hours, passing by the five holy confluences ( Panch Prayag ), namely Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Nandprayag and Vishnuprayag. Overnight at hotel in Auli.

Day 02 : Trek Auli to Talli

Amazing views of Nanda Devi peak as you start the trek. The walk is across the gradually climbing meadows of Auli, passing further through an oak and deodar forest. One can get amazing views of Haathi, Ghora, Dronagiri peaks at the Gorson meadows. Today we would camp at Talli.

Day 03 : Trek Talli to Khullara

A relatively shorter walk today, almost entirely in forest. that opens up at the Khullara meadows. This is one of the best camp sites on this trek, with a small stream of clear water flowing across the meadow. Overnight camp at Khullara.

Day 04 : Khullara to advanced camp

Move our technical equipment and a light scaled down camp to a higher location near the base of Pangarchulla to make our summit attempt easier and more viable. All participants are expected to walk with full loaded backpack, carrying their sleeping bags, personal gear etc. High altitude and constant uphill movement would be challenging to many. Camp will be established on a narrow ledge on snow. Get a marvelous panoramic view of the grand Himalayas including peaks like Chaukhamba, Neelkanth, Kamet, Haathi, Ghora, Dronagiri and several others. Overnight camp.

Day 05 : Summit Pangarchulla peak and return to Khullara

The summit attempt will be started very early in the morning. We should be moving out around 4:30 AM. There may be places where the team may be roped up for safety. All participants would be using micro-spikes/crampons and climbing aides to negotiate this part safely. After the summit, return back to the base camp at Khullara.

Day 06 : Trek Khullara to Dhaak, further drive to Pipalkoti

Today the walk is almost entirely a downhill trudge through the forest. We should hit the road head after about 3 hours of walk, where waiting transport would drive us to Pipalkoti about 2 hours. Overnight at a hotel in Pipalkoti.

Day 07 : Drive Pipalkoti to Rishikesh/Haridwar

Early morning start. We drive down to Rishikesh, which would take about 7 hours.
